Here is a link I found thanks to the LingEducator page on Facebook. Deborah Cameron, author of my all-time favourite Verbal Hygiene (1995), takes a stance on British politicians' ideas concerning immigrants living in the UK and their alleged unwillingness to learn English or teach it to their offspring. I can't say I agree with it wholeheartedly, hearing as I do UK-based Poles who absolutely murder English, but it's definitely an interesting read.
